Sweeten Things Up - £45

1. Sire de Beaupré 'Demi-Sec' Sparkling

Sparkling Demi-Sec from France. Champagne gets all the attention, but there's so much more to the world of sparkling than that. In fact, there are four main methods of production for sparkling wine, each producing slightly different styles and flavours. What is common across all of them however is really focused, tangy acidity (due mostly to harvesting the grapes early - the acidity is needed to keep the sparkling wine fresh) and an elegant fruit profile. Main flavours often include various citrus fruits, crunchy green apples, and hints of honey or biscuit. At the end of the day though, it's about those bubbles and the refreshment factor! While sounding perfectly regal, the Sire de Beaupré doesn’t need to wait for royalty, a simple occasion where you feel like some fizz will suit just fine. The ‘Demi-Sec’ Sire, as the name suggests, has a touch of sweetness to it which turns this fizz into adult apple juice with a hint of pastries and citrus.

2. La Boidina 'Felicità' Moscato d'Asti

Sparkling Moscato from Piedmont, Italy. La Boidina is shaking things up in Piedmont’s wine scene, blending old-school winemaking with a fresh, modern twist. Based in Monferrato, Gavi, and the Tortona Hills, this dynamic winery is all about crafting wines that truly capture the essence of their terroir - without the stuffy traditions. Pure joy in a glass - light, fizzy, and bursting with all things bright and beautiful. This Moscato d’Asti greets you with aromas of ripe peach, orange blossom, and a hint of honeyed pear. The gentle sparkle lifts the natural sweetness, making it feel airy and refreshing rather than rich. Dessert wine? Sure. But also brunch wine, picnic wine, and “just because” wine.

3. Adega Ponte da Barca 'Codfish' Rosé

Spritzy rosé from Vinho Verde, Portugal. Rosé is predominantly made from red grape varieties. The colour of the wine is actually from pigments found in the skins of the grapes, so even red grapes have clear-coloured juice. The colour is then ‘bled’ out of the skins by infusing the skins into the juice. So for rosé, the wine simply spends far less time hanging out with the skins! Rarely you will find a rosé that is a combo of white and red grapes – they’re not ‘less good’, just less common. Rosé is super versatile – it suits any occasion. Best to always have a bottle in the fridge, just in case, you know… Wednesday happens or something. Spritz alert, everyone! This rosé brings that signature Vinho Verde sparkle - guaranteed to put a little bounce in your glass. Super easy-drinking, it captures the classic style with a zing of tart fruit, a hint of indulgent sweetness, and loads of juicy red berry flavour, all wrapped up with a citrusy twist. It's vibrant, moreish, and a fantastic showcase of what this region does so well.
