The Spanish Snapshot
1. 'Molina Canovas' Organic Cava NV
Bodegas Alceño is the oldest commercial winery in Jumilla, and one of the coolest! Founded way back in 1870, this place has seen it all, from the post-phylloxera vineyard boom to becoming a serious pioneer in the region’s wine game. Zesty and bright with lemon and green apple up front, this Cava brings a creamy hit of lemon curd, a waxy richness, and a quirky pop of sweetcorn that totally works.
2. Abtole Rioja Blanco 2024
Abtole Winery is located in Spain's Rioja wine region and the team is renowned for its delicious and faithfully-styled range of wines. The winery benefits from the region's climate and soil, specialising in Tempranillo, Garnacha, and Mazuelo grapes for their reds, with a focus on Tempranillo Blanco for their whites. There's plenty to like about this lean Tempranillo Blanco. This grape brings a slightly greener element to the white wines of Rioja, case in point here. Grassy notes intertwine with nettles and greenery up top. This wine has vibrant acidity, finishing with a flurry of stone fruit appeal. A really lovely white Rioja!
3. Susurro Rosado 2024
A juicy and flavourful Spanish rosé! This bright and juicy rosé is giving strawberries, raspberries, and stewed peach vibes. Floral blossom and a touch of pink peppercorn add lift. It's dry, fresh, and a little playful with cherry drop notes and a salty snap on the finish. It's ticking all the boxes too - Organic? Tick! Vegan? Tick!
