Pinot Perfection - £64
1. Huella 'Reserva' Pinot Noir 2025
Pinot Noir from the Casablanca in Chile. Viña Indómita is located in the heart of Chile wine country, with their winery located in the wine region of Casablanca as well as owning vineyards in the Central Valley region of Maipo. Casablanca is located in between Valparaiso and Santiago with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, where you will find plenty of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir planted in this maritime dream. The Central Valley, by comparison, is a garden of Eden, with fertile soils perfect for producing a wide range of fruit and vegetables to feed the nation as well as supplying plenty of land ideal for vineyards. This is a lovely introduction to Chilean Pinot Noir from the team at Huella. The grapes have been sourced from the well suited Casablanca Valley, where Pinot Noir has definitely found a home. This wine is a touch smoky on the nose with memories of lighting a birthday cake with a pack of matches. Behind this is a nice evolution of cherries and strawberries with moderate tannin.
2. La Francette Pinot Noir 2024
Pinot Noir from France. As a wine drinker, Pinot Noir is one smooth-talking charmer: silken texture, soft tannins, juicy acidity, and as light in colour as it is on its feet. It does have a reputation, however, as a challenging grape to grow - it's very picky about where it is planted and can be tricky to get right. But the toil of growing it is always worth it in the end! Nothing quite compares to the splendour of Pinot Noir - packed with flavours of strawberry, warm baking spices and elegant earthiness. Think of Pinot Noir as the diva of the wine world - like Mariah Carey - if you don't keep it happy, it's a nightmare, but if you get it right, it is amazing! More is never enough. Pinot Noir is known for being a bit fussy, but when it’s happy, it’s pure magic – and this one’s positively beaming. Red cherry, cranberry, and a gentle earthy hum all glide over a silky, graceful palate. Elegant, charming, and far too easy to love.
3. Cuvée Émile 2022
Pinot Noir from Burgundy, France. This one’s a proper heart-and-soil story. Marion is Les Maranges through and through - born into a winemaking family, raised among the rolling hills of the southern Côte de Beaune, and happiest roaming the vineyards on horseback (shout-out to Hélios). She didn’t just grow up near the vines, she grew up with them, learning every slope, soil shift, and exposure like second nature. This deep, instinctive understanding of place is the backbone of everything that happens at Domaine Grachet-Duchemin. Bright ruby in the glass and straight-up joyful on the nose: think wild strawberry, raspberry, mulberry, and a hint of cherry blossom. The palate is juicy and lifted, with silky tannins, fresh red fruit, and a gentle mineral line keeping it all in check. It's smooth, supple, and super approachable now, with just enough structure to age happily for a few years - but honestly, why wait?
