New World Wonders - £67

1. Bodega Pablo Fallabrino Arneis Blend

Arneis Blend from Uruguay. With 12 hectares under vine, Bodega Pablo Fallabrino is a true single-vineyard estate, producing mostly Piedmontese varietals like Nebbiolo, Barbera, Arneis, and Dolcetto - plus Uruguay’s signature Tannat. Pablo embraces minimal intervention, experimenting with forgotten techniques while still working with modern tools like pneumatic presses and stainless steel tanks. The wines are textured, nuanced, and distinctly old-world in feel, yet carry a freshness and edge that’s all their own - much like Pablo himself. Whether you're into crisp whites or soulful reds, this is a producer that proves great wine can come from passion, patience, and a deep connection to both land and legacy. This vibrant white blend of Arneis and Chardonnay offers a beautifully layered palate, balancing bright fruit with textured complexity. Aromas of tangerine, pear, and waxed lemon lead into a crisp, mineral-driven palate with notes of stone fruit, blanched almonds, and a subtle creaminess. A touch of butter and honeyed fruit adds depth, while hints of bitter anise and herbal undertones bring a savoury edge. It's structured yet elegant, with refreshing acidity and a long, nuanced finish.

2. Paul René Cap Classique 'Brut' 2020

Traditional Method Sparkling from South Africa. At Paul René, patience is part of the sparkle. Each bottle is hand-tended through a 3-year journey of precision - from the chilled early morning Chardonnay harvest to 20+ months of lees aging. The result? A lineup that’s as much about celebrating craft as it is about celebrating life. This is Robertson’s bubbly renaissance, carried by a couple who live and breathe the joy of Cap Classique. If you’re lucky enough to sip it, don’t be surprised if you catch yourself smiling - Paul René has that effect. This Blanc de Blancs Cap Classique is pure elegance. Made from 100% hand-picked Chardonnay given the royal treatment. On the nose, it’s all citrus zest, honeysuckle, nougat and toasted almond, with those dreamy baked bread notes that only time can deliver. The palate is tight and bright, with zippy limestone acidity and a super fine, silky mousse. It’s crisp, complex, and built to age - but honestly, it’s a total joy to drink right now.

3. Huella 'Gran Reserva' Malbec 2024

Cabernet France from Bío Bío, Chile. Viña Indómita is located in the heart of Chile wine country, with their winery located in the wine region of Casablanca as well as owning vineyards in the Central Valley region of Maipo. Casablanca is located in between Valparaiso and Santiago with stunning views of the Pacific Ocean, where you will find plenty of Sauvignon Blanc, Chardonnay and Pinot Noir planted in this maritime dream. The Central Valley, by comparison, is a garden of Eden, with fertile soils perfect for producing a wide range of fruit and vegetables to feed the nation as well as supplying plenty of land ideal for vineyards. Malbec has long found a home in South America, and the 'Gran Reserva' is a classic example of great fruit, with the winemaking team adding their own touches. There is spice and mocha notes from the first sip, and behind these layers, there is a vein of black fruit which add richness and weight to this wine.
