Story
Nestled in Loanhead, just outside Edinburgh, Stewart Brewing has been crafting flavour-packed beers since 2004. Founded by Steve Stewart, a Heriot-Watt Brewing & Distilling graduate, the brewery began as a small garage operation and quickly grew into one of Scotland’s most respected independent breweries.
From the start, Stewart Brewing focused on bold, innovative flavours. Their range spans crisp lagers, punchy IPAs, rich stouts, and seasonal specials, with 'Radical Road' triple hopped IPA becoming a cult favourite. The brewery balances experimentation with quality, pushing hop varieties and brewing techniques while staying true to traditional craft principles.
Sustainability is central to their ethos. Solar panels and carbon capture initiatives reduce environmental impact, making Stewart Brewing one of the greenest in Scotland.
Beyond beer, the brewery is a community hub. The Loanhead Taproom features 18 taps, a brew-it-yourself experience, and a brewery shop, while collaborations with Heriot-Watt University allow students to create their own beers under expert guidance.
This month, we’re highlighting one of their standout and arguably most decorated beers: 'Radical Road'. The name 'Radical Road' pays tribute to the historic pathway that winds around Arthur’s Seat in Edinburgh! But back to the beer...smooth, pillowy, and packed with triple hopped aroma, it’s a beer that sparks curiosity and showcases the brewery’s incredible talent.

PAIRING GUIDE
The team at Stewart Brewing clearly know a thing or two about crafting deliciously flavourful and refreshing beers, and this West Coast IPA is right up there with our favourites this month. It’s the kind of beer to unwind with at the end of a long day - and paired with simple pasta dishes, seafood recipes or a heaving plate of fish and chips, it’s hard to think of anything better. This one will also pair really well with takeaway favourites like lamb rogan josh or vindaloo, and is also a top match for Japanese curries and sushi selections, too.
