Story
Proudly Canadian, Signal Hill combines corn and barley from within the provinces and then a backbone of the purest Newfoundland water. Stir in the distillery's noble 'three-barrel' ageing process, and it's little wonder that Signal Hill's distinctive whiskies have a huge following beyond 'Newfies'.
Crafted in St. John’s, within sight of the historic Signal Hill, the story gets more interesting the deeper you dig. Like how legendary Blues Brothers actor Dan Akroyd is a part-owner. Or that there's Morse code on the label because the first transatlantic wireless transmission took place on the cliffs above the distillery.
Importantly, Signal Hill's whisky process is particularly detailed. The distillery uses a mix of white oak, ex-bourbon, and ex-Canadian whisky barrels to deliver deeper flavours and whisky that isn't chill-filtered to further up the complexity.
You can see that all in this delicious whisky. Caramel, a hint of corn richness, and clovey spice, this round and mouthfilling spirit is a delicious aperitif whisky, but the distillery also believe its an epic backbone of a whisky cocktail like a Manhattan or an apricot sour.
