Story

'Pretty Decent Beer Co' is the East London brewery that proves great beer doesn’t need to come with a beard-stroking manifesto or pretentious tasting notes. Founded in 2016 by former teacher James Higgs, the brewery started life squeezed into a little railway arch before graduating, like a proud student, into its first permanent home in Forest Gate. Their mission? Brew brilliant beer, make people laugh, and never, ever take themselves too seriously.

The beer range is a masterclass in cheeky charm: “This Is A Pretty Decent IPA”, “You Probably Want a Lager”, and other labels that tell it like it is. Behind the jokes, though, are properly crafted brews, crisp lagers, juicy pale ales, bold IPAs, and seasonal experiments that keep both locals and beer geeks coming back for more.

Their taprooms are just as playful and welcoming. The Forest Gate site has become a buzzing community hangout, while their Walthamstow and Bethnal Green venues bring fresh tanks and fresh laughs to even more corners of East London. From a humble archway to two thriving taprooms, 'Pretty Decent' has brewed up a history of fun, flavour, community spirit, and irreverence, proving that when beer is this good, there’s really no need to dress it up.

Our next inclusion from 'Pretty Decent' comes in the form of 'Employee of the Month'. As we ease back into the Autumn and as the nights draw in, this incredible brew is certainly one to get stuck into when you put your feet up! It's loaded with flavours of toast, cream, and malty bitterness which are perfectly balanced and utterly delicious.
