Story
Nestled just a few minutes’ stroll from Hackney Central station, Hackney Church Brew Co. sits quietly under railway arches on Bohemia Place, right across from an old parish church, which lends its name (and a bit of irony) to the brewery’s warm‑hearted vibe.
Founded in 2018 (originally as “St John at Hackney Brewery”), the team rebranded in 2019 as Hackney Church Brew Co. and has since emerged as one of East London’s most beloved craft breweries. Their philosophy? “Beer for all sorts”, an inclusive, open‑door approach where high‑quality beer and good company go hand‑in‑hand.
The beer range is impressively diverse: from easy‑drinking lagers and crisp pilsners, through hop‑forward pale ales and hazy IPAs, to rich stouts, with seasonal experiments and collabs sprinkled in too.
Next door to the brewhouse you’ll find their friendly taproom and beer garden, a proper hangout, with food from an in‑house kitchen, pub quizzes, Sunday roasts and even private‑hire options for parties or weddings.
From humble beginnings under the railway arches to now winning awards and building a loyal local following, Hackney Church Brew Co. has carved out a unique corner of the London craft‑beer scene, where great beer meets real community.
Next up from Hackney Church, we’re bringing you another stellar drop: Renaissance. This sessionable pale ale delivers laid-back bitterness and a burst of American hops for a punchy, fruity flavour. Expect juicy tangerine, tropical fruit, and a refreshing grapefruit finish. It’s a beer that hits your hop cravings while leaving you reaching for another.

PAIRING GUIDE
Hackney and Walthamstow isn’t just a hip and happenin’ part of East London – it’s also home to one of the capital’s most exciting craft breweries in the form of Hackney Church, where the pale ale flows with a bite and hoppiness that simply can’t be resisted. This gorgeous pale ale is right up there with the best of them, offering a vibrancy that makes it a wonderful pairing for all kinds of dishes and ingredients. We reckon it’s best served with spicy Southeast Asian street food offerings; everything from jungle curry to nasi goreng will hit the spot, and it’s also excellent with samosa chaat, gunpowder chicken and Sichuan-style fish or noodles with plenty of crispy chilli dressing. Naturally, it’s a winner with classic meat pies, battered fish and anything piled high with fried onions: try it and see for yourself!
