Story
Gooderham & Worts (G&W) is synonymous with innovation and craftsmanship in the spirits world. Founded in 1832 by James Worts and William Gooderham in Toronto, Ontario, the distillery initially focused on milling before expanding into spirits. By 1837, G&W began producing whisky, eventually becoming one of the largest distilleries globally.
While renowned for Canadian whisky, G&W also contributed significantly to bourbon-style production, blending traditional methods with modern techniques. Using a mash bill of corn, rye, and malted barley, G&W crafted a distinct bourbon influenced by Canadian grains and precise distillation. Their bourbon featured a smooth, full-bodied flavour, characterized by caramel and vanilla notes, balanced with a touch of spice.
During the 19th century, G&W played a pivotal role in the bourbon trade, exporting its products across North America. Though Prohibition and changing markets led to a decline in production, G&W’s name remains a hallmark of quality. Today, its legacy continues through premium whiskies, reflecting the craftsmanship that defined its bourbon-making era. The historic distillery site, now Toronto’s Distillery District, is a tribute to G&W’s enduring spirit.
Classically packaged and a classic example of the category. This is made from 72% corn, with notes of toffee and toasted nuts.
