Story
Tucked into Liverpool’s creative Baltic Triangle, Black Lodge Brewery quietly emerged in 2015 and has become a local favourite. Founded by veteran brewer Bruce Gray (also behind Liverpool Craft Beer Co.), the brewery now operates a 12‑barrel facility on Kings Dock Street and offers a spacious taproom with a large beer garden.
True to its spirit, Black Lodge thrives on curiosity and experimentation, brewing everything from punchy pale ales, hop‑heavy IPAs and Berliner Weisse sours to rich stouts, crisp lagers and imaginative Belgian‑style specials.
The taproom is more than just a bar, it’s a front‑row seat to the craft, where guests can enjoy beers on both keg and cask, alongside food from resident traders like Fatback Burgers.
With frequent collaborations, community‑driven events (including the annual Craft Beer Expo that takes over the site), and a bold “why not?” attitude to beer‑making, Black Lodge embodies the adventurous, creative spirit of modern Liverpool brewing.
'Baltic Pale' is a glorious example of a juicy, modern pale ale, bursting with zesty citrus, tropical fruit, and soft stone-fruit from Citra, Simcoe, and Mosaic hops. Smooth, easy-drinking, and endlessly sessionable, it’s a crowd-pleasing Liverpool classic that’s perfect for sharing with friends or enjoying any time of day.

PAIRING GUIDE
Crisp and bracing as a dip in the Baltic sea, this delicious pale ale from the mighty Black Lodge brewery couldn’t be more up our street if it tried. Exceptionally refreshing and with a hoppy brightness, it’s fantastic with a massive array of tasty dishes and ingredients. We especially loved it with salmon dishes - poached fillets or smoked salmon slices would work brilliantly - and it’s also excellent with dishes featuring brown rice, buckwheat, quinoa and other heritage grains. Braised pork or other white meats will be excellent here, and it’s also fabulous with pickled and fermented ingredients like sauerkraut and kimchi. Yes please!
