Aromatic and sun-drenched, this Zibibbo brings serious island vibes. Orange blossom, followed by ripe grape and juicy mandarin - like a summer fruit stall by the sea. There’s a soft figgy richness underneath, adding a sultry edge to the zesty lift. Bright, breezy, and low-key lush. Best served chilled with good music and no plans.

Marsala, where the Tenuta Bellamora winery sits, is probably more famous for fortified wines than it is for bright, organic modern reds and whites, but it is here that we find some of Italy's greatest finds. Indeed, we stumbled across these wines at an Italian roadshow a year or so back, and we were immediately in love. The simple, but rather beautiful, label sets the tone for Tenuta Bellamora. The wines here are crafted by Biagio and Nicola Di Girolamo, who have embraced organic grape growing throughout their range for the past 20 years. The core of their wine business is a commitment to the classical Sicilian indigenous grapes of Grillo, Inzolia, Catarratto, Zibibbo, Nero d'Avola, and Perricone, but complemented by modern varieties like Pinot Grigio and Merlot, with everything made in this joyous, lively style that we can never argue with.

The island has a varied landscape, with low coastal plains to hills and even active volcanic mountains. The climate is Mediterranean, with hot, dry summers and mild winters. Disease pressure is low thanks to drying coastal breezes making the region ideal for organic farming practices. The soils are volcanic, sandy, and clay. Sicily can be divided into three wine regions, including the volcanic Etna DOC on the eastern side of the island, known for its red wines made from the Nerello Mascalese grape. The Marsala DOC on the island's western side is known for its fortified wines. The remaining Southeast of the Island produces a range of wines, notably Frappato and Nero d’Avola.
