Details
Made from Muscat of Alexandria, this moscato has an easy charm to it and is a veritable flower shop on the nose! Think orange blossom, rose petal, lime leaf and fairy floss. There's some honey and gentle peach flavours, and the low alcohol means this is suitable for anytime of the day.

Origin: Piedmont, in north-western Italy. Mainly Grown In: Italy, USA and Australia. Key Facts: The word 'moscato' is the Italian name for all varieties of Muscat grape, which is traditionally used for sweeter styles of wine. The most famous region in Italy is Asti, and thus the wine Moscato d'Asti is a popular one. This particular style is lightly effervescent and delicately sweet, and has become the touchstone for the now international style that simply goes by the name Moscato. A hugely refreshing style when made well, the wine is filled with delicate peach and mandarin flavours, with hints of honey and candied citrus. The sugar and hint of fizz are in superb balance, making the wine very easy to drink... a little too easy sometimes! To add to this, the style is typically made low in alcohol... did someone say breakfast? Fun Fact: Moscato is one of the only wine grapes actually known for its "grapey" aromas. Ha!

Pairing guide
It’s always a joy to discover a top-notch Moscato which possesses that perfect balance of giddy sweetness and acidic bite, and this beautiful bottle from Step by Step ticks all the right boxes for us. It’s tempting to pair this wine up with berry-based desserts, but we’d argue it works best when matched with salty dishes which balance out that sweetness. Salt cod is an especially good choice, as are crab cakes, and appetisers of cheeses like feta. Deep-fried vegetables will work well, and olive-based appetisers and bacon brunch favourites will also provide great results.
