Details
Fiano has become a staple white wine in Australia and Hither & Yon have been at the forefront of McLaren Vale Fiano for a few years now. The 2024 vintage is spot on the money, with peachy goodness and a nice touch of mineral vibrancy. This is one accessible white that will sit pretty on the dinner table with some creamy pasta or by the pool deck.
While the family vineyards date back to 1980, Hither & Yon’s journey began in 2012 from the capable hands of the Leask brothers. Richard is the outside man, the farmer and maker; Malcolm is the inside guy, director and creator. The aim is to make better wines with a lighter footprint. To do this, Hither & Yon apply regenerative farming methods that’d make Costas of Gardening Australia proud. Practices include and are not limited to increased plant diversity between rows, the use of beneficial fungi brews, and planned cattle grazing. The result is improved soil structure for better carbon capture and water retention; all this translates to superb fruit for the wines, not to mention some very happy sheep and cattle. We could go on about Richard and Malcolm’s miracle work, but being certified sustainable and carbon neutral says it all. In their own words, ‘We make wines that are good for the environment and feel great to drink!’ Cheers to that!

Pairing guide
Fiano wines are right up there with our all-time favourites, and this gorgeous release from Hither & Yon is right up our street. It’s the kind of wine you’ll want to pair with fish or seafood pasta dishes - anything from a crab and chilli linguine to creamy smoked salmon sauces will hit the spot perfectly. Barramundi, fresh oysters and other shellfish will be excellent here, and it’s equally good with a crisp green salad, classic antipasto dishes, or chicken breast with pesto and fresh herbs.
